Kirlin Expands Symphony and Latitude Series with New High Output 9″ Cylinders

Kirlin has expanded its Symphony and Latitude lineups with the introduction of new High Output 9″ Cylinders, designed for large, visually demanding spaces where standard output solutions fall short.

Engineered to deliver up to 10,000+ lumens with passive cooling, this new high-output cylinder provides powerful, reliable illumination without the added complexity of active cooling systems. The result is high performance paired with long-term durability, ideal for projects with tall ceilings and the need for powerful illumination.

Designed for a Wide Range of High-Ceiling Applications

These 9″ Cylinders are built for environments that require strong, high-light levels while maintaining a clean aesthetic. Output options ranging from 2,500 to 10,000+ lumens allow designers to dial in performance based on ceiling height, spacing, and visual goals.

An optional swivel mount provides added aiming flexibility, making it easier to direct light where it’s needed without compromising the fixture’s appearance. With three available beam spreads, the fixture can support everything from focused accent lighting to broader ambient coverage.

Flexible Mounting, Consistent Design Language

To support a wide range of architectural conditions, High Output 9” Cylinders offer multiple mounting configurations, including wall bracket, pendant, and cable mount options. This flexibility allows designers to maintain a unified visual language across different spaces within the same project without sacrificing performance or installation efficiency.

Applications Across Demanding Architectural Spaces

The high-output performance and adaptable mounting options make these 9″ Cylinders well-suited for a variety of applications, including:

  • Airports
  • Convention centers
  • Education facilities
  • Hospitality environments
  • Museums
  • Retail spaces
  • Theaters
  • Worship spaces

Performance That Scales with the Space

As the newest addition to the Symphony and Latitude series, these 9″ Cylinders reinforce Kirlin’s focus on scalable, design-forward lighting solutions for complex architectural environments. By combining high lumen output, passive cooling, and flexible configuration options, the fixture delivers the power needed for expansive spaces without sacrificing visual clarity or system simplicity.

For projects that demand more from their lighting, High Output 9″ Cylinders offer a balanced solution built to perform at scale.

130 Years of Kirlin: A 2025 Recap

As 2025 comes to a close, Kirlin is marking a meaningful milestone: 130 years of design, manufacturing, and innovation. From our Detroit factory to projects around the world, this year was about continuing to build what’s next while honoring where we’ve been.

Here’s a look at 2025.

Expanding Products and Capabilities

This year, four new products were added to the Kirlin catalog, expanding solutions across behavioral health, patient spaces, theaters, convention centers, and other demanding environments:

  • Symphony 100W Driver

We also expanded three major product lines, including broader availability of Lutron Athena across more than 120 products, a new five-foot Strait Secure ceiling slot, and additional BioGard color options, now including standard finishes and 13 recommended custom colors

To support fast-moving project schedules, 23 new Quick Ship products were introduced, offering lead times of two weeks or less.

Industry Leadership and Furthering Sustainability

Kirlin’s lighting control solutions earned three major industry awards in 2025. Our vandal and ligature-resistant Empower 0-10V and DMX Wall Stations were recognized in the IES Progress Report and received Product Innovation Awards from Architectural Products and BUILDINGS, highlighting their role in supporting agency, comfort, and intuitive control in healthcare environments.

Sustainability also advanced, with three product groups: Choice DownlightsChoice Cylinders, and Linears now carrying Red List Approved Declare labels, while INFRALED PRO continues with its own Declare certification.

Sharing the Story Behind the Products

We launched four videos in the new Made By Kirlin series, offering a closer look at our people, our factory, and the history behind our fixtures. In addition, we published three new brochures for our MRISymphony, and INFRALED PRO lines to make system selection and project planning easier for designers and specifiers.

Investing in Manufacturing in Detroit

Manufacturing remained a key focus in 2025. Three new machines, a CNC saw, turret punch, and Haas CNC mill, were added to our Detroit factory, expanding in-house capabilities, improving efficiency, and supporting long-term production capacity. These investments reinforce Kirlin’s ongoing commitment to American manufacturing and local expertise.

Looking Ahead

As we celebrate 130 years, we’re grateful for the partners, and facilities who continue to trust Kirlin. Thank you for being part of our 2025. 2026 is already shaping up to be another year of progress, innovation, and thoughtful lighting design, built in Detroit and made for the real world.

Empower Wall Stations Earn Multiple Industry Awards for Lighting Control Innovation

Kirlin is proud to announce that Empower Wall Stations have received two Product Innovation Awards from Architectural Products and BUILDINGS, adding to a growing list of industry recognition.

These honors follow a recent IES Progress Report distinction and a feature in a recent issue of Healthcare Design Magazine, reinforcing Empower’s role as a forward-thinking lighting control solution for modern care environments.

Designed to Simplify Lighting Control in Healthcare Spaces

Empower Wall Stations were developed to address a common challenge in healthcare lighting design: how to offer patients and caregivers control and choice without adding complexity. The system provides intuitive access to essential lighting functions, including dimming, color-changing scenes, and other key functions, while being vandal- and ligature-resistant.

By simplifying how users interact with lighting, Empower supports safer spaces, smoother clinical workflows, and environments that can adapt throughout the day. For patients, this means greater comfort and a sense of agency. For caregivers and staff, it means fast, reliable control without interrupting care.

We also take great pride in collaborating with designers and end users to ensure that the products that we are creating solve real needs.

“At human eXperience, all we do is behavioral health design. With every client, we are faced with the challenge of balancing therapeutic design with safety and durability

Fortunately, we found out that Kirlin was already working on a solution – a streamlined version of their MRI control panel that would allow pre-configured scenes that are easily toggable in a behavioral health safe wall mounted device. Their team was eager to meet with us and get feedback on the design, controls, and operability. While some initial prototypes limited the ability to communicate customized colors and scenes, Kirlin’s iterative and collaborative design process took this concern into account, and developed the responsive, flexible solution available today.”

Sarah Rolfvondenbaumen, Behavioral Health Consultant and Architect at human eXperience

Supporting Patient Agency, Comfort, and Dignity Through Lighting

At its core, Empower is about more than technology. It’s about how lighting control affects real people in real spaces. Giving patients and caregivers intuitive access to light levels and color helps reduce stress and supports rest and recovery while maintaining dignity, especially in environments where individuals may already feel a loss of control.

This focus on human-centered lighting design is what makes Empower especially relevant across healthcare applications, including patient rooms, behavioral health spaces, and other care-focused environments where lighting plays a critical role in experience and outcome

Industry Recognition Reflects Real-World Impact

The recent awards and editorial recognition highlight the growing importance of lighting controls that balance performance, usability, and empathy. Recognition from leading industry voices underscores that Empower Wall Stations meet both technical and human needs without overcomplicating the space.

Kirlin is honored that this work is being acknowledged and remains committed to developing lighting and control solutions that support comfort, dignity, and quality in healthcare environments.
