“At Kirlin, we create innovative lighting solutions of unmatched quality, empowering lighting professionals to design spaces that go beyond illumination to enhance the human experience.”
Sustainability is a natural extension of that mission. From material choices to manufacturing and serviceability, our approach is focused on long-term performance, low environmental impact, and transparency — all without compromising quality, creativity, or reliability.

Built for a Lower Impact
Our commitment to sustainability starts with smarter materials and localized processes that minimize environmental impact from the very beginning.
We use aluminum housings made from 95% recycled content. These fixtures not only help reduce material waste but also run cooler than traditional housings, improving thermal performance and extending the life of internal components. Plus, they’re rust- and corrosion-resistant for long-lasting durability.
All Kirlin packaging materials are either made from recycled content, recyclable, or both. We’re continually refining our packaging to reduce single-use plastics and make sure our shipments protect the product — not the landfill.
We work with regional vendors whenever possible to reduce transportation emissions and support nearby economies. And because we’re vertically integrated at our Detroit facility, we’re able to shorten supply chains, reduce freight, and keep a close eye on quality — all while fostering daily collaboration between design, engineering, and production teams.
Designed for the Long Run
Kirlin fixtures are engineered for adaptability, longevity, and minimal waste — supporting your sustainability goals through thoughtful design.

Serviceable

Upgradeable

Built to Last
We design with the future in mind. That means light heads, drivers, and internal components are accessible and replaceable — no need to tear into ceilings or walls when something reaches the end of its life or a project wants to upgrade to newer, more efficient technology.
During the product development phase, we intentionally reduce the number of parts and limit the number of unique components used in each fixture. This streamlined approach lowers our material footprint, reduces assembly time and waste, and makes service easier down the road.
Transparent by Design

We’re proud to offer Declare labels for four of our most popular product lines:
- Choice Downlights
- Choice Surface
- Linears
- INFRALED PRO
These labels support full material transparency and help specifiers meet the requirements of LEED, Living Building Challenge, and WELL Building Standard projects.
More Than Fixtures—A Smarter Process

We apply the same thoughtful approach to how we operate day-to-day.
Our Detroit facility is continuously evolving to be cleaner and more energy-aware — from reducing and recycling material scrap on the floor to implementing energy-saving systems across our operations. Sustainability isn’t an afterthought—it’s part of our daily process.
Because our teams — from engineering to quality control — are all under one roof, we’re able to respond faster, iterate smarter, and avoid unnecessary waste during development. That means fewer revisions, fewer missteps, and better outcomes for both your project and the planet.
A Better Future, Built In
We believe designing lighting for human well-being means thinking long-term — about the people who use the space, the teams who maintain it, and the environment we all share. That’s why we’re committed to minimizing waste, reducing our carbon footprint, and building smarter solutions that last.
