Kirlin natatorium and wet location pinhole and adjustable LED luminaires enhance contemporary architectural elements to provide a soothing spa escape in an 80-story residential tower in midtown Manhattan overlooking the Manhattan Bridge and East River.

“Kirlin fixtures help the project meet the light level requirements and achieve the aesthetic that we are looking for with confidence that the fixtures are suitable for natatorium environment. This is a really nice project and we are very happy with the Kirlin fixtures”, says Nira Wattanachote, Senior Associate, CBB Lighting Design.

All luminaires sport natatorium requirements of:

  • Corrosion and rustproof: exceeding ASTM 1000-hour salt spray test
  • U.L. Listed Wet Locations: suitable in moist and wet environments
  • Electrically non-conductive and gasketed trims: safety from shock hazard
  • Sealed LED printed circuit board: protected from corrosive halogen gas environment

LRR-02007 Lap Pool Effervescence

Pendant mounted luminaires were originally envisioned, but they would not have met NYC Health Code for Bathing (Section 165.47: pendant lights must be mounted at least 20’ above the pool). A creative solution to this challenge resulted in the beautiful suspended acrylic rods over the pool, illuminated from above by recessed 1500L pinholes with custom walnut trim finish to harmonize with the rich wood tones of the ceiling detail. The direct illumination of each decorative pendant achieved 30 fc over the pool, meeting code.

The effect: bubbles above and below surround swimmers with playful effervescence!

LRS-06510 Lap Pool Deck Squares

3500L square adjustable luminaires over the apron of the lap pool provide perimeter illumination which meets NYC Health Code requirements for 50 fc (minimum) maintained over the pool deck.  Directionals were selected to provide aiming flexibility to achieve these light levels. Square shapes reinforce the rectilinear design emphasis of this stunning space.

The effect: clean, crisp, sleek elegance ~ “Best Supporting Actor” Award

LRR-06415 Spa Pool Serenity

2500L recessed round adjustables, with medium flood distribution and SofTex™ finish, illuminate the spa and surround uniformly, meeting 50 fc minimum local Code requirements. Round apertures were selected to complement the curvaceous architectural movement of this area. Directionals provided aiming flexibility to achieve the desired light levels meeting NYC Health Code.

The effect: Relaxing Retreat in Lava-like Enclave
